Additional Belkin Wireless-G Router DSL/Cable Gateway Information

The Belkin Wireless G Router lets users share files and a broadband Internet connection among their computers-without using networking cables. It features 802.11g technology that makes accessing files and networked peripherals-such as hard drives, printers, CD-ROMs, and DVDs-easier than ever. 802.11g technology provides you with networking speeds nearly five times faster than the current Wi-Fi (802.11b) standard. An integrated, 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch also allows you to connect wired computers to the network. 802.11g technology is the easiest wireless network to implement. The Router uses the wireless 802.11g 2.4GHz standard to offer you 400 feet of wireless coverage. 802.11g technology is backward compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard, so it allows you to implement faster wireless technologies in combination with existing 802.11b Wi-Fi networks.

What Customers Say About Belkin Wireless-G Router DSL/Cable Gateway:

The computer whiz son had set it up but he's off on his own now. The LAN part worked OK and after an hour of putsing the wireless sprang into life - for a while.

Adios. Power-off-resets of everyting in the building, re-configuration of the laptops and resetting the Belkin router have proven fruitless.

Now none of the household laptops can connect by wireless, including the unit I first succeeded in connecting. The Belkin wireless G is in the garbage with a boot print on it.

Our previous wireless G belkin router conked out by losing it's radio signal. I purchased a replacement and meticulously set it up per instructions.

I'm resigned to having a wired household until we can locate a product that operates better than this.

But for those of use that have older houses, the "wireless" router seems like the best route to go is getting an Air-card. I currently use a 30-40 ft long phone cord dragged through the house to connect the actual CPU to the phone-line.With the Belkin "wireless" router I would have to hook the Router to the phone line and hook the Router to the CPU still and both have to run through the regular DSL Modem. So what the router did for me was cost me about $40.00. I bought a Belkin G wireless Router. I am not sure what is supposed to be "wireless" about it though.Having an older house with just one phone line in the corner of the bedroom makes DSL very difficult. I serves no other function, and once you get it home and try to make it "wireless" you'll find that it is not wireless. If you have a phone line right where you desk top computer is located you could set up the "wireless" router to run an additional computer or a laptop for example in another room.

My last router (D-Link) was very spotty when connecting wireless devices (laptop/Xbox 360), would lose signal strength and was always having to reset it.I've had this router a few weeks and I'm very happy with this Belkin so far. I have 2 laptops (Mac & PC), iPhone and Xbox 360 and all of them connected without a snag. I have CenturyLink/Embarq and the router set-up program didn't have them listed as a ISP. The signal strength is very good and doesn't drop off, which was a problem with my D-Link.

You really can't beat this router for the price. I have DSL Light and was impressed with how well the router worked playing online First Person Shooter games. Luckily it was as simple as changing the IP address.I've also used this router for Online gaming with my 360 and it works very well. I was a little hesitant because I've never owned a Belkin, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've owned Netgear, D-Link and Linksys routers and have had mixed results when it comes to reliability, signal strength etc. Upon receiving the router I noticed this was the lower model of the Belkin routers, stating it has minimal range and is best for Internet Surfing and Email. The only reason I gave this Router 4 stars is because the set-up was a little tricky.

This was a constant problem with my previous routers. I bought this router when my D-Link died for no reason. I have a medium to small house, so the range on this router works well (IF YOU HAVE A LARGE HOUSE THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST ROUTER). I had to do an internet search to find out how to setup my router.

It's nonsense.[[ASIN:B00008ZPJU Belkin Wireless-G Router DSL/Cable Gateway] I've only had this one year. (I tried to update the firmware; worthless). I've had much better luck with other brands]. like 4 times a day.

No problems like this. I'm fed up. I can't get it to work at all now that I've upgraded to windows 7. I've had the same experience as the people who have to do power cycles constantly. And there is no obvious fix or driver available.

but I'm off to buy a new one.

Easy to set up unless you have Windows Vista and then you cannot use the CD provided. Well worth the money. Awesome product and SOOOOOO cheap. You must go to the website - I did not see the insert in the package until I had tried to use the CD like 10 times.
